Flood warnings have currently been released for the period of 4-8th November for Hoi An.
Presently the warning is at level one, but is expected to raise to level two (1.5m) and possibly level three (2m) over the coming days.
The dams are currently at maximum capacity.
Areas affected are the low lying old town, Cẩm Kim, Thanh Hà, Cẩm Phô, Minh An, Sơn Phong, Cẩm Nam, Cẩm Châu, Cẩm Thanh (it's ok, though wet and windy at the beach which is out of the flood zones).
If you are due to stay and have any concerns as to whether your accommodation will be underwater, please place your questions here and we will find out on your behalf.

Coming to Hoi an 2nd week Nov. Planned to stay at La Residencia, 35 Dao Duy Tu Street . Please advise as to elevation level related to flooding.
La Residencia is in the flood zone and is being evacuated today, but you should be absolutely fine by the second week in November - the flood waters should have disappeared and clean-up complete in under a week from now. It's a lovely hotel, enjoy!
Hi. Currently at La Siesta which is becoming flooded. Should we move hotels?
Ballbrevitt, I should! The area you are in is one of the lowest points in the area and last year many people got stranded in the hotels there as the current was too strong for boats to get out and rescue them. I'd be asking reception to book you a boat right now, unless that one in the photo was yours. You've got a couple of hours before the tide changes and water levels start to rise again. Good luck!
THAnks. We’ve checked out and we’re waiting for a boat now
Are the beaches near Hoi An covered with debris? I am trying to decide weather to ditch Hoi An and head for Hanoi. Was to stay at Boutique Hoi An resort. Anyone know what the beach is like?
Hi, currently in Green Garden Stay Hotel on Hai Ba Trung Street, water levels started to drop today but it is again raining heavily at 23.11. We have a train booked to Hué on Thursday 9th. Don't know whether to wait it out or try and leave tomorrow and find flights to somewhere in Vietnam that is not flooded. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hue is pretty wet too and flooding in some areas so doubt going a day or two earlier than your booked train will make a difference.
We came from Hue on Sunday afternoon to Hoi An.
We too are wondering whether to hold out here the rest of this week or move on southwards towards HCMC.
We’ve taken advice not to go to Hue. We changed our plans and arriving heading to HCMC earlier. The tour companies and travel agents seem intent on sending people into affected areas.
localwino (great name by the way)! The beaches looking much better today and as some of the delegates from APEC are staying at Palm Garden so there is a massive beach clean-up. This photo was taken just now of the beach a couple of hundred meters north of The Boutique - just behind the Salt Pub
We are due to arrive in the next couple of days and are booked in at KOI Resort and Spa Hoi An, can you please tell me if this is affected, and also if there is power and water ?
I'm genuinely not sure about the Koi Resort, it's surrounded by the river so it would make sense that it has been affected, but I don't know for certain. If you are comfortable to wait until tomorrow morning, I'll pop my head in and grab a photo or two for you.
It's a great hotel, we had friends stay there several months ago, we lunched with them there a couple of times. We were really impressed by the place (though the huge fishy sculpture/water feature in the main pool is just odd) and the quality of the food.
Thank you, that would be awesome!
Hello everyone! We are thinking of traveling to Hue and Hoi An on the 12th, now we are unsure whether to change our itinerary. We would be staying at My Beach Homestay in Hoi An. Do you know anything bout the status quo there? Thanks in advance!
Dana, I've just got back from the Koi Resort and the flood water didn't go near it. It's built on such high ground I think it would take a tsunami to affect it. This is high tide.
Hi ckaser. The flood levels in Hoi An have decreased today as rapidly as they arrived. A huge clean-up is in place and many of the businesses are open again. The last few will open tomorrow.
Hue is also recovering, but at a slower rate - Hoi An has APEC to thank for a very speedy recovery. It's safe to run with your travel plans, just be careful to organise a hotel that didn't flood as they take some time to dry out.
Perfect ... we will be there soon !
