Christmas in Hoi An:

Cook your own festive feast? Cruisin & Carols? A Seasonal Street Food Tour?

Charity Christmas Eve Cycle

To be confirmed for 2017.

To truly get yourself in the holiday mood, join Hoi An Cycling Tours for their one-off, charity Christmas eve cycle tour, 'Christmas Lights’. The tour kicks off in Hoi An at 5pm and takes you right into the heart of the local festivities. Highlights include seasonal snack stops (including a very merry banh xeo dinner and craft beer) and lots of random carolling to fine tune your vocal cords before the tour finale - The Christmas nativity and outdoor carol concert held at the gorgeous Hoi An Cathedral, one of the most worthwhile and beautiful events of the season. Expect lots of fun, surprises and iconic Christmas tunes, and in true Christmas spirit, a percentage of the ticket price will go towards the Kianh Foundation, a local charity that aids the development of children with disability in Dien Ban, an area heavily affected by the continuing effects of Agent Orange.

The tour will be a surefire hit this holiday season, so make sure you bag tickets before they sell out (and don’t say we didn’t warn you - there are only 10 places)!

As an early Christmas present, we’re letting you in on our little CV secret. Tucked away in the festive glow of the old quarter, is the Hoianian Wine Bar & Restaurant. This upscale, bohemian resto is the perfect place for catching up with the girls over a glass of vino and some mouth-watering Vietnamese fare. The relaxed vibe, all day happy hours, great selection of wine and festive cocktails on offer make this a must-visit for a long, chilled out Christmas celebration.

When: Any day, but especially in the evening. Plan for bubbles (buy one-get-one-free) on the balcony and move downstairs for the main course - we especially like the duck pho, stuffed squid and the steak in red wine sauce.

However, from the very fact that you chose to escape the in-laws and rock up on our windswept shore, we're imagining that you may just be in search of something a little more exotic than festive over-indulgence...choose from cooking up your own feast, a festive street food dinner party, knock yourself out on classy cocktails, a barbecue in a beer hall or (our favourite) - charity Christmas ride!

Let loose with our awesome recommendations for an alternative Christmas in the area this month - on any day of the week.
